A trip to Connecticut is one of Connecticut’s safest refuge spaces of natural surroundings for visitors at Auerfarm. Connecticut has one of the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in New England and the United States. Auerfarm practices state guidelines with social-distancing, masks, and group sizing. Auerfarm is open to visitors seven days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM. Just a few miles as the crow flies, or six miles by car from the Capital city, Hartford.
Auerfarm was gifted to the Connecticut 4-H Development Fund by the Auerbach family members in the 1970s to be used as a community resource and for youth development. Auerfarm is located in the beautiful town of Bloomfield, a town that prides itself on football, diversity, gardens and the 120 acres of protected farmland that make up Auerfarm and in close proximity of the West Hartford and Simsbury borders of Bloomfield.
Families, individuals, students, and businesses come to the farm to learn about agriculture and the environment. Our programs all include hands-on interaction with natural materials to facilitate lifelong self-growth and education. Our setting also lends itself to emotional healing and growth, as visitors experience the beauty of our trails, orchards, and animal pastures.
We are happy to host your school field trip, picnic, corporate events, weddings, etc.. Auerfarm brings together students, parents, and guests for a magical experience in hands-on and virtual learning, community events, and outdoor recreation.
The farm is also adjacent to the Auerfarm State Reserve and the MDC reservoir. This huge expanse of preserved land brings with it unique wildlife and rare opportunities to explore nature in a densely populated region. While at Auerfarm, you may enjoy the many walking trails, hike up to Cider Hill, visit farm animals, get dirty in the Play Forest, pick flowers from the garden, and explore your own fun throughout the farm. Be sure to pack the binoculars, cameras, walking shoes, and sunscreen!
