Bloomfield, CT – The 4-H Educational Center at Auerfarm is delighted to announce the exciting launch of its Winter and Spring Vacation Camps. As the seasons change, so do the opportunities for children to explore, learn, and have fun in the great outdoors. At Auerfarm, we’re committed to inspiring children and adults to engage in, learn about, and enjoy agriculture, science, and the natural environment in all seasons.
Auer Camp started as a summer day-camp when education director, Jonni Marshall, joined the Auerfarm team in 2019. Since then it has grown more successful each year drawing over 600 children every summer. Now, Auerfarm is excited to open Auer Vacation Camp in December and April of the 2023-24 school year for children ages 5 – 12!
Resting on 120-acres of farmland, Auerfarm provides the perfect backdrop for children to connect with the natural world and embark on an enriching adventure during their winter and spring breaks from school. As leaves change, snow falls, and flowers bloom, our camps offer a unique opportunity for children to experience the magic of camp in the midst of a new season.
The camp day consists of S.T.E.A.M-based activities such as science experiments, art projects, sports & games, fort building, nature walks, and more. In December, children will enjoy tracking seasonal changes, observing tracks in the snow, and learning about how the farm prepares for the spring. In April, children will have the opportunity to explore the magic of the spring, by learning about how plants and crops burst into life, and discovering the secrets of flowers and the important role of pollinators in nature. They’ll also gain a deeper understanding of Auerfarm as it awakens in the warmer months.
The Auer Camp experience is all about hands-on learning and outdoor play. A blend of play-based, farm-based, and STEAM-infused education create a vibrant atmosphere that fuels curiosity and discovery. Auer Camp believes in fostering a deep appreciation for the world around us and forming friendships that will last a lifetime. The farm was founded in the early 20th century and was honored as a model farm in 1950. Today’s 120-acre 4-H Education Center at Auerfarm, located in the southwest section of Bloomfield, Connecticut was deeded to the non-profit Connecticut 4-H Development Fund, Inc. in 1976.
