Welcome to Auer Camp

Auer Camp provides immersive, hands-on learning experiences for children age 3-15 on our 120-acre farm, fostering curiosity, creativity, and connection to the natural world. We empower individuals to develop confidence, resilience, and a deep respect for the environment by engaging in agriculture, environmental education, and outdoor recreation.

WHAT WE DO

Each day, our campers spend as much time as possible outdoors, exploring the barns, gardens, play forest, stream, trails, fields, and more.

Auer Camp follows a S.T.E.A.M. curriculum and focuses on science and nature while incorporating typical day camp elements such as sports, games, and expressive arts.

Auer Camp!

Barn Exploration

Each day campers will go to the barn to interact with the farm animals. Whether it’s spending time with the bunnies, walking goats, or brushing donkeys, the campers become farmers for an hour and learn about the respect, responsibility, and dedication that goes into caring for livestock. Activities vary based on age and camper comfortability.

Play Forest & Nature Adventures

The play forest offers a unique setting for campers to explore, climb, and use imaginative play to connect. Just above the blueberry patch, there is a preserved section of woods with trees to climb, rocks to stack, and materials to build forts. For older campers, we encourage nature adventures which may include hikes, fort-building, and learning survival skills.

Garden Exploration

The gardens at Auerfarm are a great source of education and play. Campers learn that food comes from farms. They may pick produce to use for cooking projects. They might pick flowers and leaves for art projects. They might observe and record their surroundings in their homemade nature journals. Each group is also given the opportunity to care for their own raised bed!

Stream Exploration

Down by the willow tree, there is a stream where older campers may explore, fish, and play. Campers enjoy exploring the marsh landscape and trying to catch tadpoles, minnows, and frogs. The stream offers some respite on hot days and is a great area for groups to relax and connect, both with nature and each other.

Arts & Crafts

Arts & Crafts is a staple of any day camp program. Each group meets with the Art counselor multiple times a week to explore how nature and art intersect. This includes a weekly tie-dye session where campers will tie-dye a camp t-shirt that they can take home and proudly wear. Campers receive one shirt per summer.

Science Exploration

Our unique setting allows for science explorations to be in the background of most activities. Catching frogs turns into a lesson on ecosystems and food chains. Building forts becomes a lesson in physics and mechanics. Each week BHS VoAg does a reptile lesson to teach about different animals in different climates.

Auer Camp at a Glance

Read below to learn how age groups are divided and to view a typical camp day.

Sprouts, Ages 3-5

The Sprouts Camp is a half-day program for ages 3-5 from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM. The sprouts participate in farm-based activities such as engaging with farm animals, gardening, and exploring nature as well as art projects, hayrides, cooking, and games! $370/week

*Please note campers in this age group must be fully potty-trained to attend!

Young Farmers, Grades K – 5

The Young Farmers group is for campers entering grades K-5. This gets broken down into 5 age groups: Peas, Carrots, Melons, Beets, and Berries, organized by birthdate. Each day we are outside as much as possible, exploring all aspects of the farm’s fields, gardens, barns, and woods. Daily activities might include art projects, songs, gardening, time with farm animals, nature walks, hayrides, cooking, science experiments, and fort building. $395/week

Explorers, Grades 6 – 8

The Farm Explorers group is for children entering grades 6-8. Farm explorers frequently hike around the farm and engage in more complex farm and nature activities such as fort building, making fires, and learning survival skills. $395/week

Leadership, Grades 9 – 10


The Leadership program is a unique opportunity for 9th & 10th-grade campers to develop communication, critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills. $375/week.

Joining the Auerfarm team in 2019, Jonni grew the camp program from a week-long, half-day preschool program to a seven-week-long operation including am & pm care for ages 3-15. Believing in the S.T.E.A.M curriculum Jonni aims to connect children to our most expansive classroom, the environment.
