The 4-H Education Center at Auerfarm is pleased to announce that we will once again be part of the Connecticut Summer at the Museums program. This program allows for one free adult and child to visit the Beatrice Fox Auerbach museum. Learn all about the woman who ran G. Fox, making it the largest department store in New England. In addition to running G. Fox, Beatrice also ran Auerfarm. At the time the farm had 300 dairy cattle in addition to 10,000 chickens. After reading about Beatrice and all of her accomplishments, and believe us there were many, feel free to walk the farm, visit the animals and gardens and hike our walking trails. The Connecticut Summer at the Museum program is being administered by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of the Arts and Connecticut Humanities in partnership with the Office of the Governor, Connecticut State Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood, and Office of Tourism. Governor Lamont established the program in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way of providing children with engaging summer enrichment and learning experiences. It is funded through a $15 million investment in federal COVID-19 recovery funding Connecticut received from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). If you have any questions about visiting the farm this summer, please feel free to contact us at 860-242-7144 or by emailing Mark DiBella at mdibella@auerfarm.org.
