What’s the buzz? The Honey Harvest at Auerfarm is back again!
Due to popular demand, we added two dates for 2023: Fri. Sept. 8 and Sat. Sept. 9, time: 6:45pm-9:00pm. (Limited Seating, do not wait to sign up.)
In today’s world, youth and adults have few opportunities for direct experiences with nature and the Annual Honey Harvest at Auerfarm is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature. Experiential and outdoor-based educational activities – such as beekeeping – are known to be effective tools for improving understanding of and appreciation for the natural environment. Beekeeping is popular in rural areas, and hobbyists appear to be increasing in urban settings across the country.
Auerfarm’s very own Beekeeper, Kevin Kresbach, will be facilitating the Annual Honey Harvest on two nights; Friday, September 8, 2023 and Saturday night, September 9, 2023. Both educational programs begin at 6:45pm – 9:00pm. You will fulfill your bee and honey harvesting curiosities by engaging in discussions about the following topics:
• How can you keep bees at home?
• Why are bees important to humans, our region, and the world?
• How to safely harvest raw, local-wildflower honey with an on-site demonstration.
As we know, bees are integral to the survival of humanity as they pollinate 70% of the world’s food supply and the honeybee is one of our most important pollinators. Honey bees are not only economically important, but they are also ecologically fascinating creatures.
Auerfarm’s agriculture and educational resourceful events encourage our community on how to reconnect with their natural environment through place-based education experiences.
