Another exciting year of the Family Fun program is planned for 2022!

This past year, hundreds of families registered for the Family Fun programs as it is the perfect opportunity to create new family bonding memories while engaging in informational hand-on activities.  The Family Fun program is scheduled twice a month on Sundays from 2pm-3:30pm and it is only $10/per person; children under 2 attend for free.

Mark these upcoming dates on your new year 2022 calendars! Together, let’s ‘learn by doing’ as a family!

Sunday, January 9
Awesome Owls
Learn about the owls that live in Connecticut and on the farm. We will learn about both the habits and habitat of local owls including Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls. We will investigate the owl boxes on the  farm, read a story and make a pine cone snowy owl to take home.

Sunday, January 23
Snowflakes and Crystals
Discover the geometry of the snowflake and how they are formed. Design a snowflake with shapes. Hear a story about the man who first studied the structure of individual crystals that make up snowflakes and leave with a recipe on how to create fun and easy crystals at home.

Sunday, February 13
Love is for the birds!
It is Valentine’s Day weekend, let’s show our love for the birds. What birds live on the farm during the winter. We will create bird feeders to place around the farm and take one home.

Maple Syrup from Tree to Bottle
Learn how maple syrup is made step by step, from tree to bottle. The true and authentic farm experience: visit our Sugar House, learn the structure of maple trees and how to tap a tree, practice with the tools, and finish on a sweet note tasting the maple syrup.

Sunday, March 13
Feathers and Fur
Why do birds have feathers? How does fur help mammals survive? Have a personal interaction with our chickens and rabbits, and learn more about these animals. Participate in a craft activity with the alpaca fiber.

Campfire Basics and Outdoor Cooking
Sitting around the fire brings the community together. Join us in learning how to safely build an outdoor campfire. Make a sweet treat by roasting the marshmallows over the fire to make S’mores. Take home our team’s favorite campfire recipes.
