Spring Family Fun Programs at Auerfarm.
Family Fun Programs are held the second and fourth Sundays of each month from 2-3:30, and include hands-on interactive activities to get the whole family involved. We have a variety of interesting themes with fun activities planned for each program to engage participants in learning about agriculture and environmental topics. State of Connecticut Covid-19 safety restrictions are in effect with social distancing and masks.
Family Fun on the Farm Program themes include the following for the upcoming spring/summer events.:
- 4/25: Earth Day Celebration
- Learn about the importance of protecting the environment. Learn about water, ecosystems, and ways to go green for Earth Day.
- 5/9: Family Planting
- Mother’s Day is here, and many give flowers for this holiday. Learn about the science behind flowers, types of flowers and plant a flower to take home.
- 5/23: Shearing and Fiber
- Watch the Auerfarm sheep during their annual wool shearing. We will also learn about the many products that can be made with both sheep and alpaca fiber.
- 6/13: Celebrate National Dairy Month
- Celebrate National Dairy Month. Enjoy ice cream and learn about the dairy cattle at Auerfarm. Learn about the many dairy products that cows provide us and learn how electricity and solar power are used in making dairy products
- 6/27: Legend-Dairy Goats
- Celebrate National Dairy Month learning about dairy goats and the products they produce at Auerfarm. Dairy goats provide many dairy products that are not always provided from cattle. Learn how raising dairy goats is a unique and important part of the dairy industry
